Less is more these days, and downsizing to remove clutter is a big thing these days. Clear counters in the kitchen and an organized pantry is very trendy, although this may be difficult in the kitchen you have right now. If you are planning on remodeling your kitchen, you may want to consider some storage solutions to make this a reality for you. Read on for a few storage solutions you should have included in your kitchen.
1. Pull Out Garbage Can
Don't put your garbage can out in the open for everyone to see or have to walk around, or trip over. Unless you have a nice out of the way area for a garbage can, you should keep your garbage can out of sight. Have it installed in a lower cabinet using a slide-out. The can fits perfectly in a wire rack so it doesn't fall over or tip out. The garbage can fits perfectly in the cabinet and is completely out of sight so you don't have the eyesore of a garbage can in view of your beautiful kitchen.
2. Pull Out Pantry Shelves
It can be hard to see inside a pantry, especially if there isn't any lighting inside. Use pull out shelves instead of fixed shelving in your pantry. If pull out shelves is not an option, you can instead have baskets installed with hardware so they pull out instead of the shelves. You can install these anywhere in your home, but they will really come in handy in your kitchen, where the kids can pull out their own snack baskets without tearing apart the rest of your organized pantry.
3. Small Utility Closet
Have a small utility closet added to your kitchen on the side of a cabinet or on the side of your refrigerator. Make it appear as if it's a large built-in cabinet, although it only needs to be as deep as your mop or broom so they can hang without being in the way anywhere else in your kitchen. You can even make it a bit deeper to add in your cleaning supplies. This can come in handy if you don't have any space for these items now.
Staying organized can be difficult if you don't have storage in your home already. If you're having your kitchen remodeled, keep these storage ideas in mind. Discuss these and other storage ideas with your builder to have them added to your kitchen remodel.
